The Silent Doorway: How Iboga and Kambo Dissolve the Striving Self

Hello amazing souls,
How have you been? It has been a little while since I last wrote. It has been a fruitful time of being in service with holding space for courageous souls diving into themselves and also teaching the self application Kambo course. I feel incredibly grateful and also inspired to write about the silent retreat with Iboga and the synergy of Kambo. I was in touch recently with Jeremy who was the previous owner of Iboga Journey and an amazing mentor. He shared some amazing words that he curated and I asked his permission to share them. They are added below along with some of my flare and additions. I hope you enjoy and feel inspired.
You were never meant to earn awakening.
The striving self, the one that meditates harder, purges louder, chants longer, and believes enlightenment is a mountain to be climbed, is an illusion.
Awakening is not about you. It is the ground you are already standing on, veiled only by the noise of the one who believes they must earn the right to see.
This is why the deepest transformations are not found in more stimulation, but in profound, intentional silence.
Iboga and Kambo when offered in stillness, without music, without performance, without external guidance, becomes powerful allies in dissolving the striving self and returning you to your own direct knowing.
The ego is a radio that repeats one message: “I am doing. I am becoming. I am healing.”
Even ceremony can at times, keep that signal alive. Beautiful supportive, and necessary at certain stages, but still something to lean on.
In silence, there is nothing to lean on.
In a truly silent Iboga Journey, the external falls away.
No rhythm to follow.
No voice to guide you.
No structure to perform within.
Only you and what is real.
For hours you lie still.
Not achieving. Not reaching.
Not becoming.
And something begins to unwind.
The mind softens.
The pattern loosen.
The identity that has been trying so hard, begins to lose its grip.
Not through force, but through the absence of anything to hold onto.
And in that space, something deeper emerges.
Kambo prepares the body in a very different, yet equally direct way.
It clears.
Not symbolically, but physically, emotionally and energetically.
What is held is released.
What is tight is opened.
What is defended is softened.
There is no story to maintain during Kambo.
No identity to uphold.
Just the raw honesty of the body returning to balance.
And when it passes, what often remains is a quiet clarity.
A sense of openness.
A body that feels less burdened by what it has been carrying.
Together these sacraments can create a profound reset.
Not by adding something new, but by removing what is in the way.
The noise.
The effort.
The identity build around “becoming.”
What remains is not something you achieve.
It is something you remember.
“Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?” Charles Bukowski
You do not need to go anywhere to find yourself.
You do not need to become someone else to be whole.
And you do not need to strive to be worthy of connection.
That connection is already here.
Beneath the effort.
Beneath the seeking.
Beneath the identity.
The real doorway is not in doing more.
It is in the stopping.
In the listening.
In allowing the parts of you that have been striving, to finally rest.
Because when the striving self softens, even for a moment, what remains is simple, quiet, and deeply familiar.
Not something new.
But something true.
The remembering.

And if you feel inspired to give, there is a beautiful farming community in Cameroon rebuilding after a devastating bush fire. Any support is deeply appreciated, Basse
