Iboga and Neuroplasticity

Iboga, Neuroplasticity & the Sacred Art of Integration

Hello amazing souls, thank you for taking the time to read this amazing message about how Iboga works with the nervous system.  Most of us have experienced or are experiencing a dysregulated nervous system like anxiety, panic, fear, feeling like we need to rush things, brain fog, lack of focus, etc.  Our nervous system plays a key role in our day to day function and experience of life.  Iboga goes straight to the nervous system which is how we get to feel completely relaxed in ataxia during the experience.

One of the most profound gifts of Iboga is not only what is revealed during ceremony, but what becomes possible afterward.  Iboga has a unique relationship with the brain and nervous system.  On a neurological level, it is known to stimulate neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to form new neural pathways, reorganize itself, and create new patterns of perception, behavior, and response.

In simple terms, neuroplasticity is the brain’s capacity to learn new ways of being.

“Iboga doesn’t fix us.  It reminds the nervous system of what it has forgotten”  Treenz

During and after an Iboga Journey, the brain enters a rare window of openness.  Old pathways, those shaped by trauma, addiction, conditioning, and survival patterns, can loosen their grip.  At the same time, new pathways are more easily formed.  This is why many people experience clarity, relief, emotional spaciousness, or a sense of “reset” following Iboga.

This window is sacred, and temporary.

Iboga does not do the work for us.  It shows us what is possible.  What we do in the days and weeks that follow determines whether those new neural pathways strengthen, or whether the old ones quietly reclaim their territory.

This is where Integration becomes essential.  Integration is not about perfection.  It is about repetition, gentleness, intention, consistency and discipline.

Every small, conscious choice after ceremony sends a message to the nervous system:

This is who I am now.

This is how I care for myself.

This is the direction I am choosing.

New habits before and after, especially simple, embodied ones, help anchor neuroplastic change:

Consistent sleep and nourishment: omega 3’s, eggs, healthy proteins.

Gentle movement or time in nature.

Breathwork, prayer, or meditation.

10 minutes of silence daily or staring at a candle flame in the dark.

Reducing overstimulation and external noise.

Speaking truth, setting boundaries, honoring rest.

Choosing presence over old coping mechanisms.

“Iboga opens the window.  What we practice and embody with presence decides what stays”   Treenz

Each time you respond differently than you did before, you are literally reinforcing new neural pathways.  The brain learns through repetition paired with safety.

This is why rushing back into old environments, old relationships, or old patterns without support can feel destabilizing.  The nervous system is still learning.  It needs time, patience, and compassion.

Iboga opens the door.  Integration teaches the body how to walk through it.

If you are in a post – ceremony phase, or preparing for one, remember this:

You are not meant to “figure everything out”  You are meant to practice being in relationship with your new awareness.

Small steps matter.  Slow change lasts.  Comparison to others puts the breaks on any progress, immediately.

“Iboga softens the old pathways so new ones can be chosen” Treenz

And if you feel inspired to give, there is a beautiful farming community in Cameroon rebuilding after a devastating bush fire.  Any support is deeply appreciated, Basse

Neuroplasticity is not just a scientific concept, it is a reminder that you are not fixed, broken or behind.  You are adaptable.  You are capable of change.  Every cell in the body has the ability to heal itself.  And with the right support, your nervous system can learn a new language, one rooted in safety, truth and connection.

Much love and appreciation to you all.

With gratitude,

Basse,

Treenz
