Reflections from My Journey to Africa

Reflections from My Journey to Africa
I’ve just returned from a life-changing trip to Africa, and I feel deeply moved to share a glimpse of this journey with you. This experience was not only about travel – it was a homecoming of spirit, a weaving together of culture, healing and connection.
For many years, Africa has called me through the medicine of Iboga and the wisdom of the Bwiti tradition. The trip was a chance to answer that call fully – to step onto the land, to meet the people who have safeguarded these teachings for generations, and to be part of something much greater than myself.
One of the most powerful moments of my time there was meeting the man who has lost the community farm in a devastating bush fire. We have been developing a beautiful trusting relationship over the past 6 years. He is an art collector as well and sells many beautiful pieces that I got to bring home with me to add to my ceremony space. If you are interested in purchasing African Art of all kinds, please let me know and I can send you pictures of masks, ornaments, clothing, jewelry etc.
“Initiation is not the beginning of a path, but the recognition that you are already walking it. It is the moment when the unseen becomes seen, when the sacred fire within is named, and when your life is claimed as a vessel of truth, courage, and transformation” Treenz
I also experienced initiation into the Bwiti tradition – an honor beyond words. to be received as a Nganga and to hold the Ngombi, (the first white person of their tribe to be given an African Harp – hand made for me) felt like stepping into a sacred responsibility that stretches across time. It was both humbling and empowering, a reminder of how healing isn’t just personal – it ripples out to our ancestors, our children, and the generations yet to come.
This journey would not have been possible without your love, support, and encouragement. Every kind word, every donation, and every prayer made a difference. I had some special people join me, which I am forever grateful. Michelle, Daniel and Derrick. The trip would not have been the same without you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for walking this path alongside of me.
As I integrate these experiences, I feel called to share them through song, ritual and community offerings. My hope is to create spaces – both in person and online – where we can gather, heal and remember the wisdom of nature and spirit together. The first group right after my return got to experience some of the magic and wisdom I learned as well as the music of my initiation.
Fun Fact: Research suggests Iboga can promote neuroplasticity – which people often describe as feeling like their brain has become 10 years younger. ( How many times can I do Iboga? lol )
Stay tuned for upcoming events, sound journey’s and reflections as this unfolding story continues. The integration is a never ending process of feeling and diving deeply into myself to remember all the wisdom that is already there.
