Ok peeps, let’s talk vitamins and overall nutrition. Ok, so this is a funny story, as you are probably wondering where The Vitamin Whore came from — lol. When I turned 50, my beautiful friends and daughter created a jeopardy game about my life. One of the questions was: If Treena was a whore, what kind of whore would she be? The answer was, a Vitamin Whore!
So it came up again recently in a conversation about vitamins, as I love to learn about them and take as many as possible. A thought came in, encouraging me to check if the domain name was available — and sure enough it was. Super exciting. I recommend a lot of stuff to peeps, so why not create another stream of income from the companies I refer to? I’m still in the process of learning how to do that, and if any of you have any tips, I’m all ears

My favourite topics to talk about and share information about are psychedelics, vitamins, nutrition, overall well-being, and awareness. As we all know, psychedelics are one piece of the puzzle of living our best life. Nutrition and supplementation is another huge piece.
Our body is our temple in which to live out this beautiful life experience, and the more we love and nurture it, I believe the more we get to enjoy and live in peace and pleasure. A beautiful question to ask is, ‘How much more pleasurable can we make this experience of life?’ Then make our decisions from there, rather than, ‘Oh, I’ve got to take this vitamin or eat this way so I don’t get sick or fat.’ Which I’ve lived most of my life living and believing. Making choices from a place of low vibration such as fear, guilt, shame, anxiety or force always leads to more suffering. Welcoming and inviting in the love of self care to add to our life in a positive way is life-changing on so many levels. Do you ever wonder why things don’t work when you take them? Or when someone is standing right in front of you loving you like never before and you just can’t accept it? Check in with your belief about it.
So many opportunities and blessings are right there waiting for us, and all we have to do is welcome them in. I just learned an amazing calming technique from Dr. Mark Atkinson with Human Potential Academy, when you are feeling stress, anxiety and fear. This technique calms the nervous system and gets us into our hearts. It’s so simple and mind-blowing. Please do this before you make any decisions, and you will be blown away how much easier life will flow.
1) Get into a comfortable position
2) Relax your eyes
3) Relax your tongue
4) Notice the subtle shift of relaxation
5) Say ‘Welcome’ 3x
6) How does that feel?
When we are in an anxious fight-or-flight state, we are in a state of resistance and saying ‘No No No.’ If you want to experiment with this, you will feel the difference. I noticed a surge of energy rush through my body like I was preparing to run away from something scary. Wow!
When we take actions and make decisions from a calm, loving, peaceful place, the results are more favourable. Next time just tune in and feel if what you are doing is from a calm state. This flows into everything we are doing every single moment of the day.
Back to the discussion of taking vitamins. The Vitamin Whore is about lifestyle, not just about taking vitamins. Dis-ease happens from an imbalance. A lack of nutrients and oxygen causes death of the cells. I also believe thoughts create dis-ease as well. We don’t feel when cells die. The only time we feel sick or get symptoms of cell death is when something massive occurs, like a mass that interferes with the functioning of organs etc. This is about prevention. When we take steps daily to assist our body with functioning optimally, it pays off in the now and later. Do you ever wonder how when you were young and you could get away with eating like poop and treating yourself terribly and now you can’t? You blame it on, ‘Oh, it’s because I’m getting old.’ That’s not true. It’s an accumulation of poor habits that build up in your body and then — kaboom — the shit hits the fan 10, 20,30 years later.

Now I’m gonna start off slow with my recommendations of vitamins/ diet that help with reducing inflammation in the body. When we are in pain, we can’t think or do anything else but focus on the pain. Here are some helpful tips I have leaned along the way. Please take what you like and leave the rest.
- Remove wheat, dairy, canola oil and refined sugars. Wheat and canola are loaded with glyphosate, which is a toxic chemical pesticide. Sugar is highly inflammatory, as well as dairy, as they create mucus and coat the intestinal walls. This mucus coating prevents us from absorbing nutrients. Just a loose loose situation. There are so many healthy yummy options, which is a huge passion of mine. I can go on about this in more detail as well. Monk fruit sweetener is an amazing, great tasting sugar substitute. Did you know most restaurants use Canola oil to deep fry because it is so cheap? It’s so, so, so bad and loaded with toxins.
- Take at least 10,000 – 20, 000 IU’s of vitamin D3 daily, and if you are sick, take more. It is a hormone that supports the immune system, bone health, mood, brain function and more. Omega 3’s — take 5-8 grams daily. Omega 3 fatty acids play an important role with the permeability of your cell’s membrane. Omega 3/6 /9 are the basic building blocks of brain matter. Cod Liver Oil is a great source and Vitamin D works synergistically with Omegas to increase anti-inflammatory properties of the lungs and body.
- Magnesium RDA is 400mg. Magnesium is great for protein synthesis, energy metabolism, heart and muscle activation, brain health, bone health, and more.
- Medicinal Mushrooms like Chaga, Cordyceps, Lions Mane, Reishi, and Turkey Tail all are amazing adaptogens to help our bodies cope with day-to-day stress. Take supplements and eat foods high in antioxidants (greens powders). Here is a link to some great supplements. The lack of nutrients and oxygen contribute to cell death and inflammation.
- Exercise 4-5x a week. Get off the couch — sitting is the new smoking.
